Why this new Aston Martin only has 228 hp

With a new Aston Martin one expects at least 500 hp of it. Still, we don’t have to be disappointed with the 228 hp of the AMB 001 Pro. The machine weighs only 175 kilos.

The Aston Martin AMB 001 Pro is not a sports car, but a motorcycle. Unveiled this week at the EICMA show in Milan, it’s a collaboration with British motorcycle brand Brough Superior.

As you can see, you are not allowed to drive the AMB 001 Pro on public roads. It has no headlights and no taillight. The 228 hp superbike is intended for the race track. Its horsepower-to-weight ratio is as good as that of a Formula 1 car: 1.3 hp/kg.

The AMB 001 Pro is powered by a 997cc V-twin and has a six-speed sequential gearbox. As a buyer, you don’t have much choice. Brough Superior only builds the bike in Verdant Jade, the green color in the photos.

First generation AMB 001 cost £120,000

It’s not the first time Aston Martin and Brough Superior have ventured onto a motorcycle. In 2019, the manufacturers presented the 182 hp AMB 001, which was built in a limited edition of 100 and is now sold out.

There are only eighty-eight of the AMB 001 Pro. What the handcrafted racing engine will cost is not known. For the predecessor you had to pay around 120,000 pounds.
