The average Bentley buyer orders options worth 40,000 euros. And that doesn’t even include Mulliner’s customization options…
Bentley sales decline
2023 was a strange year for Bentley. Although new sales fell 11 percent to 13,560 cars, the popularity of Mulliner options ensured there was more profit at the bottom line.
About Mulliner
Mulliner is Bentley’s personalization department. Customers can come here to experience unique colors, materials, finishes and options. This means the Mulliner program goes even further than Bentley’s standard options list, which already includes 46 billion different combinations.
“We sell only a few thousand more cars per year than in the 2000s, but make three to four times as much profit,” Hallmark said. By 2023, seventy percent of new Bentleys would have at least one Mulliner option on board.
This is in addition to the “normal” options, for which the average Bentley buyer spends around 40,000 euros. In other words, the equivalent of a new BMW 118i. A Flying Spur, Continental GT and Bentayga start at around 260,000 euros.
First electric model
Bentley had planned to launch its first electric car in 2025, but that model was delayed by a year. The large, luxurious electric vehicle will be placed on the PPE platform. The Audi Q6 E-Tron and the Porsche Macan also use this.
The new PPE architecture is causing great concern for the Volkswagen Group. The Q6 and Macan were recently unveiled after a year-long delay due to software issues, among other things. And unfortunately this also affects future PPE models, such as those from Bentley.
Flying Spur and Continental Hybrid
Later this year, the brand will introduce improved versions of the Flying Spur, Continental GT and Continental GTC, no longer with a W12 engine (which received a fitting farewell in the limited-edition Batur) but with a plug-in hybrid V8 .
