Did you win the lottery or sell your Bitcoins at a high price? Then buy a Porsche 911 now! Because soon it will be too late…
No, the Porsche 911 will not go out of production, but it will receive a facelift in the summer that will change something very fundamental. Because Porsche also has to think about CO2.
Porsche 911 Hybrid
The six-cylinder boxer engine in the rear of the current 911, the 992 generation, is a jewel even with a turbo. Powerful, sophisticated and yet with a rough edge.

However, in a few months it will receive support from hybrid technology. To put it bluntly, the Porsche 911 will be a kind of Toyota Prius. The rumors have been circulating for years. Now it’s final.
“The 911 will be updated in the summer,” said Porsche when presenting the annual figures, “and a high-performance hybrid version will be launched on the market.”
Details not yet known
Now we have to take back our statement about the Toyota Prius immediately, because it is not yet officially known what kind of hybrid drive the 911 will have. The model could also be a mild hybrid.
But there are still rumors that the Porsche will be a full hybrid, in this case with an electric motor on the front axle. The upcoming 911 doesn’t appear to be able to join. It only charges when braking.

Porsche hints at a reference to racing, although we certainly don’t assume that the 911’s hybrid system will be as extensive as that of the 919 Hybrid LMP1, which also had a power generator in the exhaust.
Lohner Porsche from 1900
Incidentally, Porsche has a long history with hybrid drives, as the world’s very first hybrid was the Lohner-Porsche from 1900. The 911 was also once available as a hybrid.

In 2010, Porsche introduced the 911 GT3 R Hybrid, a racing car based on the 997 generation with a 480 hp 4.0-liter six-cylinder boxer and two electric motors on the front axle.
