Tesla cars are often used as comparison material in tests and articles. Simply because the models are among the best electric cars you can buy in their price range. The CEO of the Chinese brand Radar is also not afraid to compare “his” electric car with a Tesla Cybertruck.
You’ve probably never heard of radar. The brand belongs to the car manufacturer Geely and will soon bring a pickup truck onto the market.
Chinese pickup truck as fast as Tesla Cybertruck
During an annual conference, Radar CEO Ling Shiquan announced that the Radar RD6’s zero-to-hundred time is in the same range as the Tesla Cybertruck. The electric vehicle has to sprint from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 4 seconds with hundreds of kilos of stuff in the trunk. It is not yet known how long the sprint from standstill takes without a full loading area. The fastest Tesla Cybertruck sprints from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 2.7 seconds.

The RD6 radar is already driving around China. However, this is the version with a 272 hp electric motor. The version compared here with the Tesla Cybertruck has all-wheel drive.

It remains to be seen whether the Radar RD6 will actually become a Chinese competitor to the Tesla Cybertruck. The brand reportedly won’t be appearing in Europe any time soon, although Geely is busy expanding to other continents for Radar. The brand is already established in South America and the pickup was also exported to China’s neighboring country Laos.
The price of the Radar RD6
In China, the Tesla Cybertruck competitor with rear-wheel drive, which is already available, costs 145,800 Chinese renminbi, which corresponds to around 19,000 euros. The price of the all-wheel drive system has not yet been announced.
