Mercedes itself doesn’t like the design of the EQE and EQS either

Which Mercedes has more charisma, the EQS or the S-Class? Without a doubt the latter, according to Mercedes customers, as the brand says it has already received some comments on the design.

The English Top Gear spoke to Mercedes technical director Christoph Starzynski and asked him whether it was true that the EQE and EQS were not consistently well received by customers.

Complaints about design

“We have actually had complaints,” he replied, “and we take those comments seriously.” Look at the Concept CLA and you’ll see adjustments being made [aan het druppeldesign – red.].”

Mercedes concept CLA

The Concept CLA does not have such a typical wind tunnel shape as the EQE and EQS. Mercedes gave him more of a “hood” and a butt.

According to Starzynski, the CLA clearly sets the direction for the future. That sounds very positive to us, because the aerodynamic design of the EQE and EQS in particular is very meaningless.

Range of 750 kilometers

The new CLA will reportedly come onto the market this year and will have an 800-volt electrical system and a maximum range of 750 kilometers. The study model has an electric motor with 328 hp.
