Audi says goodbye to another legendary model

Audi is raising the curtain on “the top of the legendary RS model series,” according to the brand. With an Audi RS 6 Avant GT, the sports label accelerates again before it emits the last exhaust fumes.

When Audi says “GT” behind a model, it means that it is the superlative of a current sports model. However, when the term GT is used for a gasoline car, it also has a different meaning. This RS 6 could well be the last. Audi has not yet confirmed whether this is actually the case. Autovisie is still waiting for editors from the manufacturer.

Say goodbye to a GT

Audi, for example, currently has the R8 GT. Only 333 examples of this super sports car will go into production. Then the R8 with a combustion engine was over.

Although Audi has not yet announced whether this Audi RS 6 Avant GT is really the very last version of the legendary model, it is definitely one of the last chances to buy a new RS 6.

The possible drop-off model of the Audi RS 6 is not just a sporty version. The version is inspired by the legendary Audi 90 Imsa GTO, the model that competed in the American racing class of the same name.

This version of the Audi RS 6 didn’t come out of nowhere. In 2020, Audi showed a concept model of this version. But what is left of it?

The Audi RS 6 Avant GT features a large double rear spoiler as well as a carbon fiber hood and fenders. This model can also be recognized by the large diffuser and the large white 22-inch wheels. By the way, the paint is a wrap. You can also order the GT in a different color.

There is hardly any change in the interior of this version compared to other models. You will find a license plate with your car’s production number. A total of 660 examples were built, making this version less unique than the Johann Abt Signature Edition.

Mechanically, nothing changes to the Audi RS 6 Performance, the car it essentially is. Under the hood is a 4.0-liter V8 that produces 630 hp and 850 Nm of torque. Because the model is 15 kilograms lighter, it sprints from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour 0.1 seconds faster (3.3 seconds). The acceleration only stops at 305 kilometers per hour.

The driving forces are better distributed in the rear of the GT. An improved differential on the rear axle is intended to ensure a sportier driving experience. The mechanically adjustable chassis also contributes to this. Compared to the normal RS 6, the car sits 10 millimeters lower on the asphalt. With Continental SportContact 7 tires and thicker anti-roll bars, the RS 6 GT is the sportiest version of the model.

Price of the Audi RS 6 Avant GT

How much does the special version of the Audi RS 6 cost? The Dutch price of the model is still unknown. In Germany the model costs 219,355 euros. Deliveries will begin in the second half of 2024.
