BYD is reducing the price of its competitor Tesla Model 3 by thousands of euros. The tax value of the seal is therefore less than 45,000 euros. This means that you will receive a SEPP subsidy for the electric sedan.
The starting price of the BYD Seal was 47,990 euros. According to BYD, the car was significantly more expensive than its American competitor due to its features and build quality. Partially confirmable, because the interior is more lavishly equipped than the entry-level Tesla.
Tesla Model 3 price and BYD seal
The Tesla Model 3 cost 42,990 euros before its facelift. After the facelift, the price is at least 43,993 euros. This, combined with the BYD discount, ensures that the two competitors are approaching each other in terms of price.

The BYD Seal starts at 45,990 euros. Since the tax value of this basic model (design version) is 44,990 euros, you will receive 2,950 euros back as a subsidy from the state for the 46 grand. So you spend a total of 43,040 euros on a BYD Seal.
What do you get for the money?
There is always an 82.5 kWh battery pack in the base of the Seal, which can be used to drive 570 kilometers according to the WLTP measurement method. The Tesla Model 3 has a 60 kWh battery that can travel 554 kilometers using the same measurement method.
The entry-level Tesla Model 3 has a 283 hp and 420 Nm electric motor on the rear axle. The Seal is also basically rear-wheel drive and produces 313 hp and 700 Nm of torque.
You can see in the video below whether the BYD Seal is really a good competitor for the Tesla Model 3. Autovisie editor-in-chief Jaco Bijlsma tells you everything about the electric vehicle.
