The introduction of electric cars has led to true asset inflation. Cars with more than 1,000 horsepower are no longer an exception. BYD is now also bringing a super sedan onto the market that will compete with cars like the Tesla Model S Plaid.
The car is called YangWang U7. YangWang is one of BYD’s brands and mainly focuses on luxury cars. We’ve previously seen the U8, a competitor to the Mercedes-Benz G-Class.
A Tesla Model S Plaid competitor
Can BYD’s new electric car really compete with the Tesla Model S Plaid? That’s hard to say at the moment. In any case, the YangWang U7 comes close to the American electric vehicle in terms of performance. After all, it produces 1,020 hp. However, it’s not the U8, but the U9, Yangwang’s upcoming sports car, which should surpass the Tesla in terms of zero-to-hundred time and driving characteristics. If you have to compare this model with the Roadster.

BYD has not yet announced anything about the remaining specifications of the electric sedan. The design is already impressive.

What immediately stands out about the YangWang U7 are the headlights. The large LED unit is very similar to that of the U9. The design of the rear is also based on the sports car. Although the side of the U7 is a bit reminiscent of the Lucid Air, also a competitor from America.
BYD’s YangWang to Europe?
The question remains whether we will ever see the YangWang U7 as a Tesla Model S Plaid competitor in Europe. The BYD brand is not yet sold anywhere.
BYD previously informed Autovisie that they are definitely thinking about bringing the brand to our continent at some point. If there is sufficient demand, they even promise to supply the U8. However, with the upcoming road tax on electric cars, the Dutch will think twice before ordering a heavy electric car.
