Dive into the price list: the new MINI Cooper

There is a completely new MINI Cooper. Since the previous models were appealing in terms of both design and driving characteristics, we quickly take a look at the price list – and the configurator – for a more detailed introduction.
The modern MINI is in its fourth model generation. This is also an important change. Previously, “the MINI” was officially referred to as the MINI Hatch and later as the MINI 3-door and 5-door. From now on, all hatchback models are called “MINI Cooper”, a name that was previously reserved for a specific version. Read here what the new MINI – and also the new Countryman – have to offer. Now let’s quickly go to the price list and the configurator to put one together.
Versions and prices MINI Cooper
The new MINI Cooper is generally available as E and SE. The Cooper E has an output of 135 kW (184 hp), accelerates to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds and has a range of 293 to 305 km (WLTP). The Cooper SE has an output of 160 kW (218 hp), accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds and, thanks to the larger battery, has a range of 377 to 402 km (WLTP).
Both variants are available in four equipment levels: Essential, Classic, Favorite and John Cooper Works. Unfortunately, the latter is just a decoration package for now. As expected, the cheapest variant is the MINI Cooper E Essential with a starting price of 35,990 euros. The most expensive MINI is the Cooper SE John Cooper Works, which costs at least 47,640 euros. The rest lies in between with almost the same distribution.

MINI Cooper standard equipment
As standard, the MINI Cooper has 16-inch alloy wheels, full LED lighting, a 24 centimeter (yes, MINI specifies the diameter in cm instead of inches) round OLED screen for infotainment, navigation, smartphone integration, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control and the mandatory or optional safety and assistance systems.
Normally we’d prefer the John Cooper Works, but as long as this is just a decoration package, we’ll go with another model now. It will be the classic. The Essential looks very basic, while with the Classic we don’t pay top dollar for the most luxurious versions. We invest in the more powerful powertrain with a larger battery or the MINI Cooper SE. The extras of the Classic compared to the Essential consist primarily of more luxurious decoration, such as a nicer version of the 17-inch alloy wheels, a more luxurious version of the full LED lighting and differences in the interior. The Cooper SE Classic has a starting price of 46,140 euros.
Outdoor decoration
By default you get the MINI in Primer Gray (even though it is a metallic paint), but luckily you can choose a different color at no extra charge. Of course white and black are possible, but also dark blue, dark red and even bright yellow. Of these, the last two are the only ones that don’t have metallic colors.

Roof and mirror caps come in the body color as standard, but white and black are also available – also at no extra charge. It should be noted that white can only be used in combination with dark body colors, and black only in combination with light ones. Our blue color is therefore not permitted in combination with a black roof. Then everything in body color.

We can swap the stock 17-inch wheels for 18-inch wheels. The configurator actually states an additional charge of 1,900 euros for this, but an additional charge of 1,000 euros is stated for the standard wheels. Particularly. You have to choose one of the two, so there is actually an additional charge of 900 euros for the 18-inch wheels. In terms of size, the 18-inch wheels fill the wheel arches a little better, but we like the design of the 17-inch wheels a little better. Together with the lower “surcharge”, the standard wheels remain.

Interior decoration
The MINI Cooper Classic we selected is equipped with Vescin synthetic leather in light gray with blue fabric accents as standard. The faux leather is optional and available in black at no extra charge. We stick with the standard light gray, which looks much fresher.

Packages and individual options
The options list consists of two option packages: Package M (4,550 euros) and Package XL (8,300 euros) and the configurator asks us to select one of the two. But let’s be honest: the price for package M is already included in the entry price mentioned above, so it is an additional charge of 3,750 euros for package XL.
The M package includes an alarm system, automatically dimming mirrors, a head-up display, Comfort Access, a wireless smartphone charger, heated front seats, extra-tinted rear windows, the MINI Experience Modes and a panoramic roof.
The XL package includes electrically adjustable front seats, a driver’s seat with massage function, a high-fidelity Harman Kardon audio system, navigation with directions in augmented reality, an interior camera, a personal eSIM and other parking and driving assistants. We want the audio system, but we don’t need things like an interior camera and even more annoying “driving assistants”. Then we’ll just stick with package M.
The only separate options concern charging. Think about things like additional charging cables or a complete charging station including installation service. Prices vary between 95 euros for an adapter cable and 2,040 euros for the most comprehensive private charging station including associated services. As standard you will receive a MINI charging card; there is no entry fee in the first year. We’ll leave it at that for now.
Assemble the MINI Cooper yourself
The MINI Cooper SE Classic we put together has now risen to 47,040 euros. That’s not too bad compared to a standard SE Classic, which is also because choosing a nicer case color etc. doesn’t incur any additional costs. If only we saw this more often!
