This is the actual range of the Hyundai Ioniq 5

Electric cars usually consume more than the manufacturers state. The result is less good range than you might expect. This time we are testing the range of the Hyundai Ioniq 5.

The difference between the stated WLTP range and the actual range is large for some vehicles. For this reason, Autovisie tests the actual average range in practice with the air conditioning and radio on. This gives you a better idea of how far you can actually get with an electric vehicle.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5

Autovisie powers the Hyundai Ioniq 5 with an electric motor on the rear axle that produces 229 hp and 350 Nm of torque. The battery has a capacity of 77.4 kWh.

Hyundai Ioniq 5, actual range

When outside temperatures were around freezing point, the charging speed continued to fluctuate and was mostly around 125 kW, with a brief peak of 200 kW. That is acceptable, but not the technically possible 235 kW.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5’s stated charging time of 18 minutes for charging from 10 to 80 percent was exceeded by 10 minutes.

The actual range

The consumption of this rear-wheel drive car with 19-inch wheels was 20.7 kWh per 100 kilometers at an outside temperature of five degrees and strong winds.

Not very economical, but good for a range of 357 kilometers when driving calmly. With the small battery of the Hyundai Ioniq 5, that would be around 265 kilometers if every euro counts.

The consumption round

Autovisie independently tests consumption in the Netherlands as part of the Autovisie double test. Please note that consumption may vary as it depends on your driving style, but also on weather conditions and many other factors.

Hyundai Ioniq 5

measured consumption 20.7 kWh/100 km
WLTP area 476km
