In 2023, more than 24,000 drivers had to report to the CBR for a compulsory course or a compulsory test. The increase in the number of traffic accidents is striking.
The number of CBR students increased from 22,262 in 2022 to 24,125 in 2023, an increase of about 10 percent. This is primarily due to the introduction of two new courses at the beginning of April.
LEMG course from CBR
The first is the short LEMG course on behavior and traffic, which led to a sharp increase in the number of motorists reported for poor driving behavior (read: driving more than 50 to 60 km/h too fast).
In 2022, 1964 drivers were reported to the CBR due to their behavior. By 2023, this number will have increased to no less than 5,528. Exactly 2,275 of them had to complete the LEMG course.
Course on drugs and traffic
An EMD course on drugs and traffic was also added. This applies to people who are caught driving under the influence of drugs for the first time. An examination follows twice within two years.
Automation notifications
According to CBR, cooperation with the police is going more and more smoothly. Work is underway to automate the reports that the police forward to the CBR.
This automation is intended to reduce the administrative burden on agents, thereby helping to reduce the barrier to referring people to the CBR.
Director Alexander Pechtold
CBR director Alexander Pechtold says it is very worrying that many people are still driving under the influence of alcohol and that the driving behavior of drivers also leaves something to be desired.
