These are 5 things you should (not) do to protect your car from fireworks

It’s almost New Year’s Eve again and that means there will be fireworks again. It’s great for fireworks lovers. But for car lovers, the night can bring some worries.

This year the fireworks can be set off between December 31st, 6:00 p.m. and January 1st, 2:00 a.m. At peak times – and throughout the day – you want to protect your car well.

These are five things you should (not) do to protect your car from fireworks

1. Wash and wax

By washing your car, you protect your beloved four-wheeler from fireworks. This may sound strange because it gets dirty from all that gunpowder, but washing your car is a smart idea.

Since your car’s paint is clean, the fireworks powder will come off easily the day after New Year’s Eve. Even better: wax your car. The wax layer ensures that your car can be easily rinsed clean.

2. Park in a garage

Not everyone has this opportunity. However, if you can park in a garage, this can of course prevent damage from falling flares

3. Don’t drive

Do not drive during hours when fireworks are lit. After all, most fireworks are set off on the street. If possible, wait a while before driving until there are no more arrows and pots left to shoot.

3. Don’t buy fireworks

The fourth tip is simple: Don’t buy fireworks yourself. There’s a good chance your own pot and arrows will be fired near your own car. This puts you at risk of hitting your own car with something. Plus, you’ll have money left over to pay for more expensive gas next year.

5. No car cover

Although a car cover may seem like a smart way to protect your car from gunpowder, such a cover can catch fire. Many cars always go up in flames on New Year’s Eve, both from fireworks and vandalism. Of course you want to prevent that.
