Electric cars usually consume more than the manufacturers state. The result is less good range than you might expect. This time we are testing the range of the Xpeng G9.
The difference between the stated WLTP range and the actual range is large for some vehicles. For this reason, Autovisie tests the actual average range in practice with the air conditioning and radio on. This gives you a better idea of how far you can actually get with an electric vehicle.
The Xpeng G9
Autovisie drives the Xpeng G9 as a rear-wheel drive “RWD Standard Range”. This electric vehicle should be able to travel 300 miles on a full battery charge. For 4,000 euros more you can get the RWD Long Range with another 110 kilometers of additional range.
Xpeng G9 | |
---|---|
WLTP consumption average | 19.4 kWh/100 km |
Measured consumption | 22.4 kWh/100 km |
WLTP area | 570km/416km |
Max. measured charging speed | 172kW |
Charging time 10-80%/measured | 40 minutes |
During the test, the electric vehicle was on winter tires and the outside temperature was 7 degrees. There was also quite a bit of wind.
The actual consumption
The measured consumption was 22.4 kWh/100 km above the stated 19.4 kWh/100 km. The actual range of the Xpeng G9 in the test was 416 kilometers.
Charging the Xpeng G9
The Xpeng G9 can charge up to 300 kW quickly, so that in the best case scenario you can be out and about again after 10 to 80 percent charge.
On a 350 kW charger from Fastned, we did not achieve more than 171.5 kW despite preheating the battery pack twice for no apparent reason. However, you don’t have to wait long as the maximum charging speed is kept close to the 80 percent charge level.
The consumption round
Autovisie independently tests consumption in the Netherlands as part of the Autovisie double test. Please note that consumption may vary as it depends on your driving style, but also on weather conditions and many other factors.
