Leaked: Production version of the Renault 5 E-Tech from every angle

A lot is expected from the Renault 5 E-Tech. It’s supposed to be a relatively inexpensive electric car with a retro look. A few days ago the French gave us inside information. Now the whole veil has fallen.

Patent photos were published by the World Intellectual Property Organization. Of course, we already knew what to expect from the electric car based on the bright yellow concept model. Fortunately, the brand hasn’t deviated far from this with the production version of the Renault 5 E-Tech.

The differences we see from the concept version are the door handles (on the front doors) and larger mirrors. Typical changes from concept car to production car.

No more LED strips

What is also noticeable about the electric car is that the “Renault” logo no longer appears on the bumpers and the LED strip has disappeared at the rear. With the latter, the Renault 5 E-Tech goes against the grain. Of course, the brand has retained the iconic shaped taillight units.

What’s more important is what’s left. The reactions to the study model were predominantly positive. Renault did it wisely and went back to favorites from the past. The recognizable front, the red accents and the robust C-pillar have remained almost the same compared to the concept car.

Renault 5 E-Tech as an affordable electric car

The electric vehicle will come onto the market next year and will cost around 25,000 euros to compete with the Volkswagen ID.2, which was also well received.

The electric car will initially be equipped with a 52 kWh battery, which enables a range of around 400 kilometers according to the WLTP measurement method. A smaller 40 kWh battery will also follow later.
