Morgan blesses us with an (electric) dead sparrow

We had just taken out the Euro notes to give to Morgan and read that this XP-1 will not be put into production at all. Then don’t show us, Morgan!

That just makes us greedy: an electric tricycle for motorcycling fun when the sun shines again and the birds chirp again. And now we are happy about this dead sparrow.

Morgan XP-1 test program

The Morgan XP-1 is a prototype with a new electric powertrain under the skin. It was developed in one year and is now entering a test program of up to two years.

Finally, the on-board technology is likely to be reflected in the cars Morgan offers in the near future, such as the Super (three-wheeled) and Plus (four-wheeled).

How big would the range be?

What we’re curious about and what Morgan isn’t saying is the range. Of course, a huge battery of cells can’t fit in a vehicle as small as the XP-1.

This is not necessary, because a tricycle like the XP-1 is of course never used for the daily commute or vacation in the south of France. About 200 kilometers would probably be enough.

To optimize the range as much as possible, Morgan tinkered with the XP-1’s aerodynamics. According to the manufacturer, the tricycle’s air resistance was reduced by 33 percent.

Digital display on the dashboard

Strange, in the interior the brand is experimenting with a digital display on the dashboard. This involves, among other things, trying out different layouts and menu structures. Does it have Apple CarPlay, Morgan?
