Dive into the price list: This is what the BYD Seal has to offer

After a fairly successful start with the Atto 3, BYD is ready for the big work. Other models have now been introduced, of which this BYD Seal is the youngest. By looking at the price list we find out what the newcomer has to offer.

The BYD Seal is the brand’s newest model (in terms of launch date) and a competitor to models such as the Hyundai Ioniq 6, the Polestar 2 and the Tesla Model 3. At the beginning of the year we were able to get to know each other during a driving test, now that Car is available. When ordering, we also take a look at the price list.

Specifications BYD seal

Let’s start with the specifications. The Seal is available in RWD and AWD variants. The first has 230 kW (313 hp) and 360 Nm. This means that the car accelerates to 100 km/h in 5.9 seconds and the top speed is a modest 180 km/h. The 84 kWh battery is sufficient for a range of 570 km (WLTP).

Thanks to an additional electric motor, the BYD Seal AWD produces 390 kW (530 hp) and 670 Nm. 100 km/h is reached in just 3.8 seconds. The top speed remains at 180 km/h. The AWD variant uses the same battery as the RWD, which is good for a range of 520 km (WLTP) thanks to slightly higher consumption.

Prices and features BYD Seal

The BYD Seal is available from 47,990 euros for the Design version (always as RWD) and from 50,990 euros for the Excellence version (always with AWD). What do you get for the money? Some highlights: 19-inch alloy wheels, panoramic glass roof, leather upholstery, 10.25-inch digital instruments, a 15.6-inch rotating central touchscreen, extensive infotainment with 4G, over-the-air updates and voice control, electric operated tailgate and much more Of course a mountain of driving assistants. According to BYD, the most important additional equipment of the Excellence compared to the design is the head-up display. The additional effort is therefore primarily due to the different drive train.

Outdoor decoration

We’re sticking with the BYD Seal Design RWD, although that actually makes little difference to the rest of the configuration. Both versions offer exactly the same – limited – personalization options. By default, the Ice Blue color is selected, but you can also choose any of the other colors at no additional cost. Then you can choose between the obvious black, white and very light gray, but dark gray-blue and a striking greenish shade are also possible.

There are also wheel choices, but these depend solely on the color selection. If you choose black, white or green, you will receive a different model of alloy wheel. Although nothing is mentioned about it in the BYD Seal configurator, the rim appears to be an inch smaller. In our opinion it is a nicer type of rim. We rely on it in combination with the eye-catching green paint color.

Interior decoration

In the interior you only have one choice: the color of the upholstery. The standard choice is a kind of light gray-blue, optionally and at no extra charge the interior can be painted completely black. The gray-blue looks beautiful, but also seems to be very contagious for dirt. We therefore choose black, which also combines better with the chosen body color.

Install the BYD seal yourself

Then we suddenly reached the end of the configurator, because there is no more choice than described above. There are no additional options or accessories list. Do you like the BYD seal? Then view the configurator, specifications, equipment and other information at www.bydauto.nl. Since the configurator doesn’t even show much of the car, we’ve put together some European press photos below.
