Bovag happy. RAI association happy. Slightly more cars were sold in November than in the same month last year. However, there is one brand that is doing very well in terms of sales.
Wait, we need to nuance this. The fact that Aiways sold 13,000 percent more cars in the first eleven months of 2023 obviously means nothing. They came out of one car last year and are now at 131.
Aiways sales figures
By the way, Aiways shows a strange sales curve in the Netherlands. In 2020, the Chinese brand sold 428 cars (mainly due to the small additional tax), and only 11 and 1 in 2021 and 2022.

Lotus is also growing rapidly
Lotus also comes from (almost) nothing and has increased by a whopping 8,500 percent: 85 cars now, one in 2022. An increase that is almost entirely due to the electric Lotus Eletre.
Total sales figures
Anyway, let’s look at the real front runners. Because, as always recently, Kia leads the rankings. Last month the brand registered 2,736 cars, giving it a market share of almost ten percent!
The top 5 brands are completed by Volkswagen (2,603 cars), Skoda (2,145), Tesla (2,112) and Toyota (1,855). A total of 28,256 cars were registered in November (so these are not actual sales figures), an increase of 1.8 percent.
Tesla dominates the EV segment
Tesla’s dominance in the EV rankings is remarkable. Model Y and Model 3 are in first and second place with a combined market share of 21.3 percent.
The Tesla Model Y (1323 registrations) and Model 3 (718) are followed by the Volvo XC40 (556), MG 4 (420) and Skoda Enyaq (407).
The overall model leader is also led by the Model Y, in second place is the Kia Picanto (929 cars) and in fourth and fifth place are the Volvo XC40 (658, EV plus hybrid) and Volkswagen Polo (641).
