You will never guess who is a big fan of the Tesla Cybertruck

Is the Tesla Cybertruck beautiful? Most people won’t believe this, but in Italy there is a man championing the strange recovery: a man you would never expect.

We don’t like the Tesla Cybertruck, but hey… what do we know? We are not designers. Do you know who it is? Giorgetto Giugiaro. In fact, he is a design legend.

“Tesla Cybertruck is needed”

Giugiaro, now 85, has had an amazing career. He’s a genius, with cars like the first VW Golf, the BMW M1, the Maserati Ghibli, the Alfa Romeo Alfasud and more.

Therefore, Giugiaro can confidently be called an authority in the field of car design. And he thinks the Cybertruck is an excellent invention, he told NPR, the American public broadcaster.

“In today’s market, an eye-catching design is required,” said Giugiaro: “And the Tesla Cybertruck will be absolutely successful and find its admirers, I am convinced of that.”

“Appeals to a large niche”

“If you paint outside the boundaries while playing sports, building furniture or cooking, it is seen as a provocation. Everyone wants to be different from others.”

“I don’t want to judge the Cybertruck as beautiful or ugly,” Giugiaro continued. “I just think he would do well to stand out. This allows the model to appeal to a wide niche of buyers.”

Stainless steel housing

Fun detail: The Cybertruck has a stainless steel body, just like the DMC DeLorean designed by Giugiaro and known from the Back to the Future films.

Elon Musk has admitted that Tesla had a pretty difficult time choosing this material. “We dug our own grave,” he said.

Since Tesla likes to do things differently, it is very unclear when the Cybertruck will come to market. The first buyers should receive the pickup no later than November 30th, according to the plan.

It’s unclear when mass production of the Cybertruck will begin. Musk has said expansion will be difficult and very expensive.
