Do you like driving too fast? Then Bloodhound wants you behind the wheel!

The Bloodhound LSR project is looking for a new driver. One who dares to send this rocket on wheels to a top speed of over 1600 km/h.

The Bloodhound LSR (Land Speed Record) was announced in 2008 and was then called SSC (Super Sonic Car). The rocket car’s goal was to break the 1,000 mph barrier (more than 1,600 km/h), but so far little has come of it.

Bloodhound looking for money

The project has been plagued over the years by lack of funds, technical problems and the COVID pandemic. On November 16, 2019, Bloodhound reached a speed of 1011 km/h during a test drive.

In order to still be able to reach 1600 km/h, the team is looking for money. And the hope is that a potential new driver can bring that with them.

Roadshow through Great Britain

Bloodhound is running a roadshow called “Race to Greatness” in various locations across the UK to find a driver. Andy Green, RAF pilot and current world record holder, will guide the newcomer.

In 1997, Green became the first person to break the sound barrier in a vehicle on land. He sent his jet car, the ThrustSSC, to a speed of 1,227 km/h.

Bloodhound wants to attract sponsors

The LSR team hopes that the public search for a new director will attract sponsors and media attention. It is estimated that another 13.7 million euros will be needed to reach the record.

Rolls-Royce engine

The Bloodhound LSR is powered by a Eurofighter Typhoon Rolls-Royce EJ200 engine, a cluster of hybrid rockets and a Jaguar supercharged V8 as the engine’s fuel pump.
