Turn a sports car into an off-road vehicle. They’ve done this before at Porsche, with the 911 Dakar. Now Nissan is also taking a special step: the Safari Rally Z.
The normal Nissan Z is not delivered in the Netherlands. This special off-road version will therefore not come to our country – if it goes into production.
Nissan Safari Rally Z
The Nissan is not a real competitor for the Porsche 911 Dakar. Still, it’s worth mentioning.

This car is an ode to the Datsun 240Z, with which the brand won the East African Rally Safari in 1971. The car has the same paint.

The model is basically an ordinary Nissan Z. The car was tackled by Tommy Pike, a well-known American tuner. In addition to a paint job, the car is also equipped with KW dampers and springs to keep the car significantly higher on its feet.
The proverbial legs in this case are gigantic 17-inch off-road tires from Yokohama. The car was lifted a total of around 5 centimeters. This height makes it easier to traverse uneven terrain. If the Nissan is a little too low, extra sturdy underbody panels protect the sensitive parts from stones and other obstacles.

Under the hood is the V6 with two turbos. The drive power is sufficient for 405 hp.
Unlike the Porsche 911 Dakar, the Z is not for sale
The Nissan Safari Rally Z isn’t actually for sale like the Porsche 911 Dakar. At the moment it’s just a show car. It is still unclear whether the special version will ever actually be produced.
A special Seiko watch is also offered for the model. Unlike the car, this one is actually for sale. The price is $299.
