This affordable, electric Citroën ë-C3 has 7 seats!

Citroën surprised friends and foes yesterday with a fully-fledged electric car for just 24,290 euros. This also bodes well for the upcoming SUV version.

A quick summary: The Citroën ë-C3 produces 113 hp, has a 44 kWh battery and therefore has a range of 320 kilometers. This makes the model a lot more useful than the Dacia Spring.

Citroën ë-C3 with subsidy

Although it has a starting price of 21,750 euros, in terms of equipment it is significantly inferior to the Citroën with an output of 44 hp and a range of around 230 kilometers.

The Citroën ë-C3 is therefore an excellent offer, especially if you deduct the purchase subsidy of 2950 euros from the price. Fortunately, the purchase subsidy was not reduced until 2024.

Even cheaper ë-C3

In 2025, Citroën will even bring a cheaper version of the ë-C3 onto the market. With a starting price it will be just under 20,000 euros, but unfortunately it can only travel 200 kilometers with the battery.

SUV replaces C3 Aircross

Then we continue with the SUV variant of the Citroën ë-C3. It replaces the old C3 Aircross and will launch sometime next year. Strikingly, it falls into the B segment, but actually has three rows of seats.

Derived from the Indian version

The first images of the car show that it is significantly more angular and higher than the ë-C3. By the way, the arrival of the SUV ë-C3 is no real surprise. The car was launched in India in May.

The European version will look slightly different. For example, the regular Citroën ë-C3 also has an Indian derivative that made its debut in January this year and differs in design (and specifications).

Also with a petrol engine

A variant of the electric Citroën ë-C3 will also be available with a petrol engine next year. We assume that this will also be the case with the SUV. Both use the so-called smart car platform.

On the Smart Car platform

This is a derivative of Stellantis’ eCMP/CMP platform and is primarily used for models in emerging markets such as India and South America.

Citroën is using Smart Car architecture for the ë-C3 because it is cost-effective. It is difficult to keep the price of an electric vehicle under 25,000 euros and still make a profit.
