Europe is being overrun by Chinese electric vehicles. Now the traditional brands are striking back with these electric cars for under 25,000 euros.
Although the Dacia Spring Electric is the cheapest electric drive on the market, in most other segments it is Chinese electric manufacturers who offer the most for the least money. Think of the BYD Dolphin, which you can buy for 29,990 euros, or the larger MG 4, which costs just over 32,000 euros.
Cheap electric cars on the go
While there is a lot going on in the C segment, Chinese electric vehicles are not yet overrepresented in the B segment. This is the gap that many European car brands want to close. We can expect these cheap electric cars soon.
Volkswagen ID.2 – <25,000 euros
The Volkswagen ID.2 will come onto the market in 2025, a small hatchback model with a range of 450 kilometers. According to the brand, the electric car is as compact as a Polo but as spacious as a Golf. Volkswagen boss Thomas Schäfer promised us in the video below that this should cost a maximum of 25,000 euros.
Volkswagen ID.1 – <20,000 euros
This isn’t the only car Volkswagen has announced. When the ID.2 study model was unveiled, there was also talk of an even smaller electric vehicle that the brand wants to bring onto the market for less than 20,000 euros. It could be called the Volkswagen ID.1.
Citroën ë-C3 – <25,000 euros
The Citroën ë-C3 was on the agenda much earlier. This month the French are introducing the electric car with a range of 300 kilometers.

Citroën, with which the consumer association is not satisfied, promises a price of less than 25,000 euros. To achieve this, the electric car was developed on a new, cost-effective platform.
Fiat Panda EV – <25,000 euros
Like Citroën, Fiat also belongs to the Stellantis car group. Just like Citroën, Fiat will soon launch an electric car in the B segment. The specifications probably correspond to those of the e-C3.

Fiat boss Olivier Francois claims that the model will be cheaper than electric cars from competing brands. The concept model shown back in 2019 paints a picture of the possible design of the new electric vehicle.
Renault 5 – <30,000 euros
The Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance is also working on affordable electric cars. The Renault 5 will be released next year. A cool electric vehicle with a retro design.

The French say that the R5 should not only cost less than the Zoë (34,895 euros), but also than the other competitors.
Nissan Micra – <30,000 euros
Obviously it is cheaper if the development costs can be spread over as many models as possible. For this reason, the electric Nissan Micra also comes from the same company. This will have the same technology but in a different guise.
