This is Kia’s competitor Polestar 2 and Tesla Model 3!

Sedans don’t sell, everyone wants a crossover or SUV. Although the electric segment seems to be the exception, with the Polestar 2 and Tesla Model 3 selling extremely well, Kia also sees it that way.
That’s why the Korean brand presents this EV4, which in some time will have to compete with both sales successes. For now, however, the Kia is still a study model.
Kia EV4 debuts in Korea
It was unveiled during Kia EV Day in Seoul, where the EV3 also made its debut. The design of the EV4 is striking as the car looks quite similar to the EV6 but has a butt.

Sedan with crossover features
As is apparently the case with a sedan these days, the ground clearance is slightly higher than normal. Polestar also decides to do this with the 2. The Aiways U6 copied that.

What’s even more interesting is that Kia is taking a different approach with the EV4 than Hyundai with the Ioniq 6. The latter is low and streamlined like a drop. Autovisie colleague Peter Hilhorst compared it to a Tatra.
Frunk under the “hood”
In addition to a trunk at the back, the EV4 also has a trunk under the “hood”. The interior is similar to that of the EV3, with a minimalist dashboard that doesn’t yet look production-ready.

It is not yet known when the EV4 will come onto the market. It is of course based on the well-known E-GMP platform from the Hyundai Motor Group. We don’t know whether it will also adopt the 800-volt architecture.
