Hello, there it is again! Nobody wants this unsaleable McLaren

Who will we see at auction for the umpteenth time? The rainbow McLaren that nobody wants. And his asking price keeps falling.
We first came across this McLaren Elva in America, last year at Mecum Auctions. The value was estimated by the auction house at around 2.7 million dollars, the equivalent of more than 2.5 million euros.
Nobody wants this McLaren
The Elva remained unsold, so Mecum tried again nine months later, this time with a lower expected return. Unfortunately, no one wanted the McLaren in April of this year either.

Three times is a charm, RM Sotheby’s hopes, because the Elva is now appearing at this auction house. It will go under the hammer in Las Vegas in November. Maybe there’s someone in this tacky gambling town who will take the bait.
Expected price drop again
As you guessed it, RM Sotheby’s expected return has been revised even lower and is now between $1.8 million and $2.4 million (approximately €1.7 million to €2.2 million).

We can’t wait until November 18th, the day after the auction, because it would be very entertaining if this hysterical McLaren Elva didn’t find a buyer.
Rainbow varnish à la TVR
The original owner of the Elva ordered it in a rainbow paint job often seen on TVRs in the 1990s. The paint changes color depending on which angle you look at it from.

This Elva is number 122 of 149 and has only 93 miles on the clock (149 kilometers). Funny, when it was auctioned at Mecum in April it was still 90 (144 kilometers).
McLaren wanted to build 399
The McLaren Elva is powered by an 815 hp and 800 Nm 4.0 liter biturbo V8 and accelerates to 100 km/h in less than 3 seconds. It could also be ordered with a windshield.

In addition, McLaren had great difficulty selling the Elva. The sports car manufacturer planned to build 399 examples, but there weren’t that many interested parties. Ultimately there were 149.
