This home-built Saab EX can be yours, and you want it to be yours

This home-built Saab EX can be yours, and you want it to be yours

Do you remember this car? No, neither do we. This EX was never built by Saab, an enthusiast of the brand put 3,000 to 4,000 hours into its construction. And now it’s for sale!

In honor of the Swedish brand’s 50th anniversary, Norwegian Per Ekstrom built a car that combines Saab’s best designs.

Homemade Saab EX

The car started life as a Saab 900, which the fan himself bought new from the factory. The tailgate was modified and received the glass from the 900 Cabriolet. The roof was lowered by 7 centimeters and the car was widened. The wheel arches were replaced with those of a CS 9000 and the fuel cap was moved. What is striking is that this self-built Saab is approved for public traffic and was tested in 2023. In short: you can really drive it!

Under the hood is a 2.3-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder. The drive train in the Saab EX is good for 223 hp. The engine block has now covered 154,000 kilometers.

The price tag

The self-built Saab EX can now be yours. The model is offered at the Bonhams auction house. The auctioneers’ estimate proves that it is difficult to put a price tag on the car. According to the experts, the car should bring in between 60,000 and 90,000 euros. A significant amount, but then you have a unique car.
