Lotus became part of the Geely Group in 2017, meaning that the brand will no longer produce extremely light sports cars. Are you still looking for a real British sports car with tears in your eyes? Then the BAC Mono R is just right for you. Whether you can afford it is another question.
Briggs Automotive Company (BAC) is a brand that only true car enthusiasts know. The brand has one model: the Mono. This unique R is the extreme variant.
The BAC Mono R
The BAC Mono R may not be able to completely fill the gap left by the old Lotus in the market, but the fun of the Mono is impossible to share with anyone. The British sports car only has one seat.

Of course, not using a chair also has advantages. The slide is narrower and this Bac Mono R only weighs 555 kilograms! This extremely light model is equipped with all sorts of carbon fiber parts and even a special Hypetex paint.
This is a paint with a sort of titanium finish with a crystallized layer on top. It only adds 17 grams per square meter to the car. Conventional paint weighs about 138 grams per square meter.

The Lotus replacement’s powertrain consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder from Mountune. With the help of a turbo, the four-cylinder engine in the Bac Mono R produces 343 hp and you can sprint from 0 to 96 kilometers per hour in 2.5 seconds.
The acceleration only stops at 274 kilometers per hour. Then you can remove the flies from between your teeth!
Much more expensive than a Lotus
If you have sufficient financial resources, the Bac Mono R can be a good successor to your Lotus. The “normal” Mono R costs over 330,000 euros without BPM and VAT. It is not yet known how much this version costs. Only 30 examples will be built.
