That’s how many Dutch people actually have a Porsche 911

A Porsche 911 is on the wish list of many car lovers. But how many Dutch people can actually call themselves 911 owners?

Quite a lot, as you can see when you look at the RDW license plate register. No wonder, because the German sports car has been on the market since the 1960s.

53,807 Porsches in the Netherlands

There are currently almost 54,000 Porsches with Dutch license plates in the Netherlands. In addition to the well-known Porsche 911, the Cayenne and the Macan dominate.

Becoming an SUV manufacturer proved to be a golden move for the German car manufacturer. Although the Macan has only been around since 2014 and the Cayenne since 2003, the SUVs are among the brand’s most popular models. There are 10,675 Porsche Cayennes and 4,582 Macans in the Netherlands.

Number of Dutch people with a Porsche 911

But these numbers pale in comparison to the 21,290 Porsche 911s in our country. Of course, that doesn’t mean that there are that many 911 owners in the Netherlands. After all, there are collectors who have several 911s in their shed (like this special off-road variant), but the number is a good indication.

It is with some disappointment that we have to report that a third of all Porsche 911 models are painted in a somewhat boring gray. This makes it the most common paint color, followed by black (27.9 percent) and blue (15.2 percent).

Porsche 911 Turbo S extremely popular

With a share of 17 percent, the 911 Carrera is likely to be the most popular variant, followed by the Carrera 4S (14 percent) and the Carrera S (8.4 percent). It is noticeable that the Porsche 911 Turbo S (4.7 percent) is in fourth place. The current Turbo S costs at least 320,000 euros. However, these may also be older copies. There are 268 examples of the GT3 RS on the road in the Netherlands and 44 of the GT2 RS.

The Porsche 911 seems to be more mainstream than sports cars and supercars from other brands. In this article you can read how many Ferraris are registered in the Netherlands and whether Lamborghini manages to exceed this number.
