That consumes a Dodge Ram 1500

In February of this year, Dodge introduced the new Ram 1500 REV, an all-electric pickup truck. Before this car can offset CO2, let’s look at what the current Ram 1500 consumes.

The Ram 1500 is not delivered to the Netherlands. Still, there are RAM dealers who import cars.

That consumes a Dodge Ram 1500

For this example we will choose a 2023 Dodge Ram 1500 with the 5.7 liter V8 that was imported new to the Netherlands. According to the factory, the average consumption is 12.8 liters of petrol per 100 kilometers. This means that the car consumes an average of 1 liter per 7.81 kilometers.

That’s not very economical. Many buyers therefore opt for an LPG tank in their Ram. After all, LPG is significantly cheaper than petrol. However, the fuel also has a disadvantage. Consumption increases.

The consumption of LPG is about 15 percent higher than that of petrol. The Dodge Ram 1500 consumes LPG, not 12.8 liters per 100 kilometers, but about 14.72 liters. That means you’re going about 1 in 6.8 on a Ram 1500 on LPG. At least if you meet the factory specification. Anyone who lets the V8 howl often drives much less economically.

For liquid gas you pay about one euro per liter. Euro95 costs about 2.3 euros per liter. At more than twice the price, installing LPG in a Dodge Ram 1500 pays for itself quickly.

The sample car

The car we used as an example in this article is for sale for just under 66 grand. The Ram 1500 is new and being sold by a Dodge dealer.
