Bugatti has confirmed that the successor to the Chiron will be unveiled next year. Will the 8.0-liter W16 with four turbos survive? To ask the question is to answer it, because no… the iconic bike will not be returning.
“The car is ready,” Bugatti’s Achim Anscheidt recently told Autocar. “We handed over the prototype to our tool shop a few months ago and assume that we will have the necessary production tools in a few months.”
Successor Bugatti Chiron with V8
The next Bugatti model will have a completely new chassis and will be more compact than even the Mistral. This roadster version of the Chiron will be built in a limited edition of 99 to reflect the departure from the W16.
Because Bugatti also has to think about the polar bears. And so the successor to the Chiron gets a V8 with hybrid support. Worth noting: Bugatti will equip the car with a large central infotainment system.
Until recently, the brand didn’t want to do that, assuming that a multimedia screen would quickly age the car. For example, drive a 10-year-old BMW 5 Series. Developments in display and software are moving so fast that a car like this feels hopelessly outdated.
Starting price of more than 5 million
A Chiron cost more than 2.5 million euros in the Netherlands without taxes. Its successor will be even more expensive with a price of more than 5 million euros.
Bugatti was once owned by the Volkswagen Group but is now grouped under the Bugatti Rimac joint venture, owned by Rimac (55 percent stake) and Porsche (45 percent).
There were several special versions of the Bugatti Chiron, including the Sport, the Super Sport 300+ and the Pur Sport. Chiron-based derivatives were also built, such as the Divo, the Centodieci, the Mistral and the La Voiture Noire (which is NOT by Christiano Ronaldo, whatever the internet says).
