Dive into the price list: the new Toyota Prius

The new Toyota Prius is an evolution of the previous models, except for one thing: the design. By looking at the price list, we will get to know you better and put it together.

From a purely rational point of view, the concept of the Toyota Prius is not that crazy: you can transport four people and a reasonable amount of luggage, while the consumption remains pleasantly low thanks to the optimal aerodynamics. But yes, it wasn’t really exciting and let’s be honest, the eye also wants something.

This is exactly what makes the new Toyota Prius interesting. The concept builds on what is known: good streamlining and an efficient hybrid drive ensure low consumption. At the same time, Toyota promises that the car will finally offer good driving characteristics. In addition, the new model even looks really good. That we could say that again about a Prius. Already last month we could see that the driving characteristics have actually improved enormously. Now let’s look at the prices and features.

Powertrain Toyota Prius

First, a brief overview of the new powertrain. The new Toyota Prius is also available as a “normal” hybrid and as a plug-in hybrid, but only the latter is coming to the Netherlands. This gives you a system output of 164 kW (223 hp) and 208 Nm. After 6.7 seconds you are already at 100 km/h. A Prius has never been faster and more powerful! Nevertheless, it is very economical with consumption and emission values ​​of 0.5 l/100 km and 11 g/km according to WLTP. Depending on the version, the Prius can drive around 70 to 85 km purely electrically.

Prices and equipment Toyota Prius

There are three trim levels: Dynamic, Executive and Solar Edition. The starting price is 44,695 euros, 47,195 euros or 53,595 euros. Some highlights from the standard equipment: 17-inch aluminum wheels with hubcaps, privacy glass, heated windscreen, leather steering wheel, electrically adjustable and heated front seats, keyless entry, extensive infotainment including voice control for certain functions, four years of free Toyota Smart Connect services and finally Over-the-air updates for driver assistance systems. You will receive two charging cables for charging: one for a normal socket and one for normal charging points.

Notably, the Executive offers slightly higher-end optical equipment, including 19-inch alloy wheels, but also adaptive headlights, heated steering wheel and a digital interior mirror. In addition, the rear light strip is only actually illuminated over the entire width from this equipment line onwards.

The Solar Edition is the most lavishly equipped model, including additional driving assistants, leatherette upholstery, front seat ventilation, heated rear seats and – from which it owes its name – solar panels on the roof for (easy) charging of the battery. Detail: The Solar Edition is only available in Sunset Yellow.

We quickly decided on our election: it will be the executive. It offers a little more than the standard model – and looks a little better. We find the Solar Edition and its sunroof very interesting and the yellow body color suits it well, but we don’t dare to order it with it. If you dare to choose yellow, we stand by with applause.

Continue to the exterior decoration of the Toyota Prius. Dark blue is the default color for the regular models. Nice, another manufacturer where you have to pay extra for boring colors. Hopefully this will brighten up the street scene. A color other than dark blue will help you immediately 995 euros. Then you have light gray, dark gray and black to choose from, but also the already mentioned yellow. For a surcharge of 1,395 euros, you can choose between “premium metallic” red and mother-of-pearl white. In the end we choose red. Not as extreme as the yellow, but still a nice color. There are no other wheel options.

Then we come inside, although we’ll finish there quickly too. The black fabric upholstery is the only option. If you really want artificial leather, you should still go for the yellow Solar Edition.

Lots of options Toyota Prius

The options list is actually not that long either. Most important is the panoramic roof for 995 euros. This time we skip it. We tick the aluminum door sills (with “Hybrid” lettering) for 156 euros. Well, the rubber floor mats (144 euros) are also practical. We believe in the many options for protective films for the body (64-293 euros), as well as for the “extra protection” for the interior and exterior (116-444 euros), whatever that means exactly.

Otherwise, only a few practical accessories are on the list of options, such as a shopping box or life hammers. Notable features include an orange warning light that attaches to the roof with a magnet (30 euros, kidding, we tick) and wind deflectors for the tops of the windows (314 euros, but who buys those these days?).
