Dive into the price list: Peugeot 508 facelift – ready for a new round?

The Peugeot 508 has undergone a facelift. Is that enough to boost sales? Let’s get acquainted with a dive into the new price list.

The current generation of the Peugeot 508 was launched in 2018. We were – and are – excited. A beautiful sedan that also drives well, with the Peugeot Sport Engineered as the superlative. But yes, the consumer these days apparently only wants SUVs. The Peugeot 5008 is a bestseller, while the Peugeot 508 sold no more than 1,269 units in the Netherlands in its best year (2019). It is even questionable whether the car will get a successor. However, it’s not yet time to retire and with a facelift, the Peugeot 508 can take it up again. We hope.

Engines Peugeot 508

In terms of engines, the facelift hardly offers anything new. Since the facelift, the engine range has consisted of three variants. The PureTech 130 S&S EAT8 is the standard engine, a 1.2-liter three-cylinder with, as the name suggests, an output of 96 kW (130 hp) mated as standard to an eight-speed automatic transmission. This is the only remaining variant without a plug.

Above it is the HYbrid 180 e-EAT8, with a system output of (see above) 132 kW (180 hp). Do you want even more performance? Then there is also a variant with a system output of 165 kW (225 hp). If that’s not enough, the Peugeot Sport Engineered with an incredible 265 kW (360 hp) is still available. In short, the familiar pre-facelift offering.

Standard equipment Peugeot 508

In the interior, the changes of the facelift are actually limited. The biggest news is perhaps the infotainment, with which you can now connect two smartphones at the same time (via Bluetooth). There are also additional USB ports. No, this is really a facelift in the truest sense of the word: mainly cosmetic changes.

The standard equipment remains the same apart from a few details. The highlights: 17-inch alloy wheels, heated door mirrors, tinted rear windows, keyless entry and start, Peugeot i-Connect Advanced navigation and a 180-degree rear view camera.

Prices Peugeot 508

After the facelift, the price of the Peugeot 508 starts from 45,050 euros, for the petrol version in the Allure version. The plug-in hybrid version is available from 50,480 euros for the 180 hp variant and from 51,980 euros for the 225 hp variant. For the somewhat more luxurious GT version, there is always a surcharge of 2,200 euros, for the station wagon version SW there is always a surcharge of 1,600 euros. The sporty PSE costs 73,580 euros.

Assembly of the renewed Peugeot 508

We opt for the limousine. Last time we already put together the Peugeot Sport Engineered, this time we’re staying modest and opting for the Allure. We just think it’s just a tad nicer than the GT, while the Allure is tired of the luxury too. We opt for the plug-in hybrid version, which is nice and economical as long as you charge it properly. In view of the relatively low additional costs, we will immediately opt for the HYbrid 225.

exterior decoration

The default gray is very gray. We can choose a darker shade or the non-metallic grey, but also white, black and dark blue at no extra cost. Among other things, this blue is new and the non-metallic gray was reserved for the PSE before the facelift. The last color option for the chosen version is bright red, with an additional cost of 250 euros. We choose dark blue. There is no wheel selection.

interior design

Continue to the interior. Standard is a combination of fabric and imitation leather, in anthracite. For 2,000 euros you can make black real leather out of it and then you also get the Comfort Business Pack. These include AGR-certified seats, electric adjustment options and seat heating. We’re sticking with the standard seats.

Packages and individual options

We tick the Comfort Business Pack separately. There are two other packages: the Vision & Drive Assist Plus package (1,300 euros) and the panoramic sunroof package (1,350 euros). The first includes an alarm, a mobile phone charger, a Pack Drive Assist (adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning) and a 360-degree parking camera. The second is called the package because you get heated windows with the panoramic roof. Come on, we’re both ticking.

Then the separate options. For 450 euros we check the hands-free tailgate operation, but we leave the extendable trailer hitch at 950 euros. Here we can suddenly opt for a different type of 17-inch alloy wheel (at an additional cost of 150 euros), which we don’t like any better than the standard wheels. We also consider the 7.4 kW on-board charger (instead of 3.7 kW) to be a must. Costs 400 euros extra.

Then there are also plenty of accessories. From snow chains and extra wheel sets to protective mats and storage options. We won’t name everything, but we’ll highlight a few special features. For example, only a 10.5 tablet is on the option list (210 euros) and for 313 euros you can even have a removable espresso machine installed in the cup holder in the center console. Not really.

Assemble the renewed Peugeot 508 yourself

This brings us to the end of the configurator. The price tag of the Peugeot 508 is now 56,080 euros. Would you like to have a look at all the facilities and prices at your leisure? You can do this at www.peugeot.nl.
