Is the new Toyota C-HR as futuristic as it seems?
The Toyota C-HR has always been an outstanding car. Due to its special design, it proves to be timeless. The hybrid has been in production since 2016 and that means time for a new one!
And the new one has an equally futuristic design. However, the Coupé High Ride (C-HR) is secretly not that futuristic.
The new Toyota C-HR
What you can see right away is that this model suits the new design language of the Japanese. And you will therefore immediately see the existing new models in this car.

For example, the LED units and the curves in the hood are similar to those of the new Prius and the whole is similar to the BZ4X. Compared to the previous model Toyota C-HR, this model is slightly shorter, slightly wider and slightly higher. However, the difference is only small.

The black rear of the model can be ordered as an option, but it is definitely recommended if you buy the car from a design point of view. And that’s why you end up buying the C-HR. If you want a more practical car, you should go for the Toyota Corolla Cross.
After all, it’s not that futuristic
Toyota calls the model an all-new C-HR. And although it has been completely renewed, the powertrains are not unknown. And it’s not as futuristic as the design might suggest, either. After all, the C-HR is not available as an electric car. However, the proven hybrid drives from Toyota are used in the C-HR.

As with the previous model, a 1.8-liter four-cylinder is available, which delivers up to 140 hp with the help of an electric motor. That is 18 hp more than in the previous model. With 185 Nm torque, the drive train also offers significantly more towing capacity. Do you really want to drive electric? Then you better reach for the 2.0-liter four-cylinder.
This is available as a conventional hybrid and as a plug-in. With the plug variant, you can drive up to 66 kilometers purely electrically. The normal hybrid delivers 198 hp and 206 Nm of torque, the plug-in hybrid 223 hp and 208 Nm of torque. It’s the electric motor. The four-cylinder in the Toyota C-HR delivers around 150 hp in both cases.
In the Netherlands, the Toyota C-HR can only be ordered with front-wheel drive. The price is currently unknown. The new hybrid will come to the Netherlands at the end of this year.
