speed record! The Citroën Ami Buggy in Belgium sold out within 9 minutes

Citroen, shall we beg? On our knees? Because we do, you know. We also like the Citroën Ami Buggy. The small “army vehicle” is not for sale from us, but in France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg and Greece.

The Citroën Ami Buggy is a limited version of the Ami. Launched in December 2021 as a study model, it was so well received by the public that Citroën decided to put it into series production.

Citroën Ami Buggy built in a limited edition

In 2022, the French brand only built fifty units, which were only sold in France. For this year, the circulation has been increased to 1,000 copies, of which 800 copies were only available online in the eight countries mentioned above.

Four hundred and thirty copies were available in France, which sold out in just two hours. Belgium broke the sales speed record. At our southern neighbors, it took just nine minutes to sell 65 Ami buggies.

Two hundred examples are still available this year, but they won’t come to the Netherlands either (an alternative is the Opel Rocks-e). They will go on sale this summer in Turkey, Morocco and overseas parts of France.

Executed as a small army vehicle

The Citroën Ami Buggy is designed as a small soldier, with a matte green camouflage color and yellow sergeant stripes on the nose. Doors, the Ami Buggy doesn’t do that. They have been replaced with a sturdy looking fence.

According to Citroën, the roof of the Ami Buggy can also be removed, but unfortunately the manufacturer does not show us any photos of it. We find the gold-colored steel wheels very cool.

Small cars with a maximum speed of 45 km/h

Nothing has changed on the drive of the Ami Buggy. It is fully electric, powered by an 8hp motor and can travel about 75 kilometers with its 5.5kWh battery. Officially, the Ami is a micro car, so its speed is limited to 45 km/h.
