We’ve lost track! Another Chinese brand in the Netherlands: Omoda

“The Chinese are coming!” We shouted ten years ago, but now the offensive is really getting going. Aiways, BYD, Hongqi, Lynk & Co, Nio, Seres and Xpeng: they all dare to try in the Netherlands. Another brand will soon be added: Omoda.
Omoda requires us to capitalize Omoda, but we do not engage in such nonsense. Speaking of silly… The “O” in Omoda stands for “oxygen,” oxygen, “an essential element of our lives,” according to the brand. “Moda” stands for modern.
Omoda 5 EV is an electric SUV in the C segment
Omoda has already presented the first models in southern Europe. The names of the cars are not very imaginative as is the case with more electric vehicles. The 5 EV, for example, is an electric SUV in the C segment.
The launch in the Netherlands will take place in early 2024. A few months later it will be on the market. Specifications are not yet known. In China, the 5 EV has a 224 hp electric motor and a 61 kWh battery. There are also fuel versions of it.
HiPhi, Ora and Zeekr also in the Netherlands
Omoda – yes, that’s also a fashion store in the Netherlands – isn’t the only Chinese brand on the way. Among others, HiPhi, Ora and Zeekr dare to try. Zeekr is already coming this year. Ora already sells cars in England.
