Ron DeSantis: Trump rival has his first scandal in the cheek Japan decides to extend the life of nuclear reactors

Anne Kathrin Hamilton /

Arch-conservative Republican and self-proclaimed warrior against the “awake” world – Ron DeSantis enters the ring with this agenda. He wants to fight his way to the White House, but must first prove himself against political heavyweight Donald Trump.

It will probably get dirty. Even before DeSantis officially announced his candidacy for the 2024 presidential election, Trump was barking words of warning at his once close ally. He would unpack things about DeSantis that only his wife Casey DeSantis would know.

Compared to Trump, Florida Governor DeSantis is considered a “clean man” with no major scandals. But with his decision to throw his hat in the ring, the election campaign – or better mud fight? Because he’s probably not as clean as the politician DeSantis looks.

A few days after his announcement that he would run for president, there was the first campaign scandal.

DeSantis would have transferred millions to a lobby group

It’s campaign money. According to US media reports, DeSantis is accused by a watchdog group of illegally transferring money to a super-PAC. A PAC is a “Political Action Committee”. In the US, this refers to lobby groups that focus on supporting or antagonizing certain politicians.

The accusation: As governor, DeSantis and his state fundraising committee allegedly transferred more than $80 million to the “Never Back Down” lobby group. Explosive: This super-PAC is backing his presidential candidacy. According to the CNN report, this is against federal regulations.

Accordingly, the oversight organization “Campaign Legal Center” is filing a lawsuit over the transfer. This is how the impartial organization fights against the illegal influence of money in politics. Did they discover DeSantis? According to the organization, some processes are quite striking.

Notable Changes in DeSantis State Commission

According to “CNN,” DeSantis has likely been separated from his state commission in recent weeks. A new chairman was also appointed: Senator Blaise Ingoglia, an ally of DeSantis. In addition, the name of the committee was changed from “Friends of Ron DeSantis” to “Empower Parents PAC”.

The website states that the policy committee “supports the national promotion of issues and candidates committed to protecting parental rights in education.”

The lawsuit against DeSantis is now being heard by the Federal Election Commission (FEC), an independent US federal agency that regulates campaign finance. According to “CNN,” intervention by the FEC is unlikely. A similar case occurred during the 2020 presidential election. It was about the management of funds of the Republican Byron Donalds. The FEC did not take any enforcement action in this case at the time.
