Outgoing Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin (37) and her husband Markus Räikkönen (37) are filing for divorce after nearly three years of marriage. The social democrat and her long-term partner announced this on Instagram on Wednesday.
Marin and Raikkonen got married in the summer of 2020 after being together for about 16 years. They met when they were 18-year-old students. They have a daughter together who is now five years old. They are thankful for 19 years together and their beloved daughter, they wrote. “We remain best friends, close and loving parents.”
Despite winning, Marin and her Social Democrats only came third in Finland’s parliamentary elections in early April. Conservative election winner Petteri Orpo (53) is currently leading government negotiations to form a centre-right coalition.
Marin will remain in office until the new government is formed. She came to power at the end of 2019 as the youngest prime minister in the world at the time. (SDA)
