The drone flies towards the Kremlin, crashes into a flagpole and catches fire. A video supposedly showing a Ukrainian attack on the heart of Moscow has gone viral on social media. Blick answers key questions about the alleged attack.
1
On the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, a drone flew into a flagpole at the Moscow Kremlin. As video footage would show, the drone exploded and there would be a hole in the roof of the Kremlin. There would have been no injuries.
The first reports of the attack appeared on Moscow’s Telegram channels around three in the morning. The Twitter user «GeoConfirmed» confirms this information. The Kremlin confirmed the information in the afternoon. The recordings could not initially be verified. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, 64, said there is now a complete ban on drones in the Russian capital.
2
The fact is: nothing has been proven. There is no independent confirmation of the incident. It should also be noted that the alleged attack took place at night. This is also evident from the films in which it is dark. However, the first concrete recordings did not appear until Wednesday afternoon – and that in a city where almost twelve million people live.
Until now, the question remains open: was the drone shot down by the Moscow air defense and therefore exploded – or did it explode when it hit the flagpole? And: what did the responsible actors want to achieve with it?

Russia blames Ukraine for the incident. It was therefore possible to crash two drones flying towards the Kremlin grounds. “We consider these actions to be a planned act of terrorism and an attempt on the life of the President of the Russian Federation,” the Kremlin said. According to the Kremlin, Putin was not injured. It is worth emphasizing that Putin is rarely in the Kremlin – especially at three in the morning.
The press service of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (45) responded Wednesday afternoon and claimed to have no information about the attack. The statement emphasizes that Ukraine is “directing all its available forces to liberate its own territories, not to attack others”.

The videos allegedly showing the alleged attack have sparked a flurry of speculation. Did the Ukrainian army attack the Kremlin as Russia claims? This would show the Ukrainians their power. Moreover, this would prove that the Russian air defense system is in a very bad state.
A Ukrainian attack on the Kremlin seems unlikely. In addition, a video shows how two white figures begin to climb the Kremlin’s dome even before the drone strikes. According to a Ukrainian politician, the men are from the Moscow fire brigade. But that is not confirmed.
So did the Russians do it themselves to further justify their war against Ukraine? It is possible. According to the Twitter account “Tendar”, this false flag operation should be a reason why Vladimir Putin (70) does not have to appear before the Russian people on May 8. In addition, Russia could justify further escalations in the war.

Authorities in Russia have reported a number of drone strikes in recent months. Some have landed near Ukraine’s border with Russia. At least one drone landed south of Moscow. Ukraine has not accepted responsibility for most of these incidents.
But if confirmed, the attack would be the most brutal attack on Russian soil since Moscow invaded Ukraine last February, the New York Times reported. In concrete terms, this would mean that Ukraine – contrary to his claims – is also conducting offensive operations in Russia. And all this just before the celebration of “Victory Day” begins in Moscow.

The Kremlin’s statement read: “The Russian side reserves the right to take countermeasures as and when it deems necessary.” Experts also suspect that Putin will use the incident to justify attacks on Ukraine and specifically on Kiev.
Writes down the German political scientist and analyst Nico Lange (48). Twitter: “Given the images of the drone attack on the Kremlin, retaliatory actions against Ukraine are to be expected.” But he also emphasizes: “Putin’s resources for this are now very limited.”
Even though it is not yet clear how the incident will affect the further course of the war: “Any way you look at it, whether it was Ukraine or Russian opponents of Putin – the drone attacks on the Kremlin have put Putin in an extremely bad position. about and he has hardly any opportunities to react that improve his situation’, says Lange.
