Painful moment for German Finance Minister Lindner

Embarrassing moment at the party congress of the German Liberals: Finance Minister Christian Lindner (44) is accidentally hit with his arm below the waist by his fellow party member Nicola Beer (53). How did the strange scene come about?

The party leader stood on stage and clapped along with the audience. Bear had been standing next to him. Then the EU politician made an embarrassing blunder. She slapped Lindner’s soft parts with her hand.

Low blow to FDP leader Lindner

Of course, the FDP leader had not expected that. He jerked his upper body forward with a jerk – then straightened quickly. Beer’s “attack” was not intentional, she immediately apologized. Lindner smiled, put his hands on Beer’s shoulders – indicating that everything was okay again.

Lindner had brought Beer on stage for a special round of applause. The Vice-President of the EU Parliament will soon resign as Deputy Federal President.

For his part, the FDP leader delivered verbally at the party conference – against climate activists. He called the climate glue’s actions “physical violence,” among other things.

Nevertheless, it was a successful occasion for Lindner: The federal party conference confirmed the 44-year-old as federal chairman with 88 percent of the vote. That was slightly worse than in the election two years ago, when he got 93 percent.
