Surprising picture: This Russian T-90 tank stood for days at a resting place in the American state of Louisiana.

Drivers in the US state of Louisiana were quite surprised when they suddenly found themselves in a rest area in front of a Russian T-90 war tank.

To get straight to the point: no, Russia did not invade the United States. As “The Sun” reports, according to intelligence sources, the monstrous tank was only shipped from the battlefield in Ukraine to the United States. It was seized by Ukrainian forces last September.

Parked at rest area due to truck breakdown

The T-90 was to be delivered to the United States Army, but while driving through Louisiana, the transmission of the truck carrying the tank suddenly failed.

Since the driver had to drive all the way to Houston, Texas to replace his vehicle, he asked staff at a nearby rest area if he could leave the truck and tank there until he returned.

The request came as a complete surprise to the restaurant staff. “I’ve been here for seven years. I’ve never seen a tank here,” said Valerie Mott, deputy general manager of the rest area. The guests also had many questions when they saw the T-90.

Panzer is still partially armed

The tank was initially left unattended for several days. According to Mott, the vehicle is now guarded 24 hours a day by security forces. This is to prevent military fanatics from getting stupid ideas.

Because although the tank is no longer in use, it is still very dangerous. Although the machine guns have been removed, the T-90 still carries explosives.

The US military hopes for valuable insights

Why the tank was shipped to the United States is not entirely clear. However, it is believed that the T-90 was intended to be taken to the US Army’s Aberdeen Test Center (ATC) in Maryland for weapons testing or training exercises.

There, it will soon be examined by the military and give them insight into the equipment Russia relies on in combat.

Neither the transport company that transported the tank nor the U.S. military has publicly commented on the incident. (ceded)
