‘The Clash’ co-founder Keith Levene late Indian expert sees ‘age of extreme climate fatigue’

According to The Guardian newspaper, the co-founder of legendary British punk band The Clash, Keith Levene, has died.

The guitarist, who later founded Public Image Ltd with Sex Pistols singer John Lydon, passed away on Friday at the age of 65 “peacefully, calmly, comfortably and loved”, his partner Kate Ransford told the newspaper on Saturday night.

She was with Levene’s sister and her husband at his side. The musician suffered from liver cancer.

Other British media outlets such as the BBC and the PA news agency referred on Twitter to a report from Levene’s close friend Adam Hammond. “There is no doubt that Keith was one of the most innovative, daring and influential guitarists in history,” Hammond wrote.

Levene co-founded The Clash (“Should I Stay Or Should I Go?”) in 1976, when he was only 18 years old. He soon left the band due to disagreements over political views. Although he contributed to a number of songs on the first album What’s My Name. However, when the band became famous, Levene was no more. (sda/dpa)
