Within a year, six bodies were found in Austin’s Lady Bird Lake.

The 911 call to Austin police came in Monday around 1 p.m. Eyewitnesses saw a body floating in Lady Bird Lake there. The news has excited many residents of the city in the US state of Texas. Because there is now open speculation about whether a serial killer is up to mischief. A total of six dead people have been recovered from the same water since January 2023.

When asked by the media, investigators remained silent on whether there were links between the deaths. Meanwhile, a theory is making the rounds in Austin: A killer could be mixing prescription drugs or drugs into his victims’ drinks at nearby bars to make things easy.

Reportedly “accidental death by drowning”

On February 13, 2023, Jason J.* (†30) was rescued from the lake. He had disappeared without a trace the week before after an evening on the Rainey Street party strip. According to KXAN News, a homeless man reported to police that he saw him fall into the water. According to the coroner, it was an accidental death by drowning. However, the victim’s parents publicly doubt this.

On March 5, 2023, the body of Clifton A.* (†40) washed up on the shore of Lady Bird Lake. The father of two had been seen nine days earlier at Stubb’s Bar-B-Q restaurant in downtown Austin. The coroner was unable to determine the 40-year-old’s cause of death. According to the police, there were no “suspicious indications” that there could be foul play.

“No evidence of violent crime”

Jonathan H.* (†33) was discovered on April 1, 2023 on the bank near Rainey Street. The 33-year-old was last seen at a taco truck at 2 a.m. on March 31. Here too, the coroner suspects an accidental death due to drowning.

The body of John Christopher H.* (†30) washed up 3 km away on April 15. Austin police reported “no evidence of violent crime or suspicious circumstances of death.” However, the 30-year-old’s partner was certain in an interview with the Daily Mail that “there was a crime behind his disappearance and death.”

Suddenly more police around

Mogga D.*’s body washed ashore in June 2023 – there is no further information from authorities. But one barmaid told the Sun: “We have noticed an increase in police checks in recent months. Apparently the police now believe that there is more to the many deaths than just a series of accidents.”

Interesting: Christian P.* (21) was pulled unconscious from the water of the city lake in November 2019. The 21-year-old survived. He was hit in the back of the head, but couldn’t remember anything. Scratches and bruises on his hands indicated that he had gotten into an argument and fought back.
