“The best teams in the competition played against each other”: Bayer goes into the Bayern match undefeated after a cup spectacle

Can Leverkusen lose at all? In the spectacular cup battle against VfB Stuttgart, Bayer was twice behind, fought back and celebrated the 3-2 winning goal in the 90th minute.

“If you are in the lead twice in Leverkusen, you have to take it home with you. But hats off to Leverkusen!”, Stuttgart striker Deniz Undav (27) showed respect for the opponent in an ARD interview after the match. And they will have realized that the already large stretch for Saturday’s top match (6:30 PM in the Blick live ticker) has become even bigger with the next morale boost.

Leverkusen ready for the confrontation with Bayern

The late 3-2 was another push for the Bundesliga match against Bayern Munich, winning goalscorer Jonathan Tah (27) told Sky. The chance to take the series champions within five points in the top game is an added incentive for Leverkusen. “We are hot,” Robert Andrich (29) assured with a grin when asked about the match against Bayern.

And the successful coach Xabi Alonso (42), who is seen as the favorite to succeed Klopp in Liverpool, has also ticked off the trophy for the time being: “Semi-finals, which will take place in April. Now we can concentrate on the Bundesliga and the Europa League.” The cup battle against Stuttgart has once again shown that we are prepared for these tasks.

Alonso praised the Swabians at the press conference that he had never played against a stronger opponent in Leverkusen. In the first leg against Bayern – in Munich of course – it was a 2-2 draw. Leverkusen also scored late there.
