In Japan, a plane bound for the United States turned around after a flight attendant was bitten by an apparently drunk passenger. The passenger, according to media reports a 55-year-old man from the US, bit the flight attendant on the arm while “very drunk” and slightly injured her, a spokesperson for Japanese airline All Nippon Airways (ANA) told the AFP news. The pilots therefore turned around over the Pacific Ocean and sent the plane with 159 passengers back to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. According to the ANA spokesperson, the aggressive passenger was handed over to the police there. The worst of the previous four incidents within just over two weeks occurred on January 2 at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport. A Japan Airlines (JAL) plane collided with a Japanese Coast Guard plane after landing and burned out. All 379 passengers on the passenger plane were able to save themselves with the help of emergency slides.
