In South Australia, a new attack occurred just two weeks after a fatal shark attack on a teenager: a surfer was bitten on the leg by a shark off the coast of the Eyre Peninsula on Tuesday.
The 64-year-old was flown to a hospital in Adelaide, the capital of the state of South Australia, broadcaster ABC reported, citing emergency services. The man’s injuries were not life-threatening, it was said. It is not yet known what type of shark it is.
At the end of December, a teenager was fatally injured by a shark in the same state. In May last year, a 46-year-old was also reported to have died in a shark attack in the region. According to broadcaster 9News, the latest attack was the sixth in South Australia in just one year. (saw/sda/dpa)
