A Japan Airlines plane burns down at Haneda Airport in Tokyo

Japan Airlines Flight 516 went up in flames at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport on Tuesday. A video from social media shows the burning plane taxiing down the runway at high speed. It is still unclear whether there were any injuries. The plane was said to be en route from New Chitose to Haneda.

Japanese media report that the passenger plane caught fire at 5:47 p.m. local time (9:47 a.m. Swiss time) as it was about to land. Based on information from the local fire brigade, it is also reported that the aircraft may have collided with another Japanese Coast Guard aircraft on the runway. The extinguishing work is currently underway, according to live images from the news portal ‘NHK’.
