Even after the big, but still disappointing for many fans, finale of ‘Game Of Thrones’, no one has to worry about being let down anytime soon – because HBO and George RR Martin have no plans to bring the fantasy world to a standstill bring soon. After the successful launch of ‘Game Of Thrones: House Of The Dragon’, further spin-offs are already being worked on.

How George R. R. Martin which was revealed around the turn of the year, a ‘Game Of Thrones’ series will now be very different than originally planned: “Nine trips“. Last November, we reported rumors that the pilot episode script had been rejected and the series idea scrapped. However, Martin countered this, revealing that the format was still in the works. “Nine Voyages”: the spin-off of “House Of The Dragon” will be an animated series
‘Game Of Thrones: Nine Voyages’ might be called ‘Nine Voyages’ or ‘The Sea Serpent’ in this country – but it will now look completely different than it ever intended. The spin-off ‘House Of The Dragon’ will not be a live-action series, but an animated series. Martin now confirmed this himself on his website.
They are working on various animation projects together with HBO. Martin reveals that while none of them have been given the green light yet, in a number of cases they are about to “take the next step”. Additionally, it was decided not to produce “Nine Voyagers” as a live-action version, but rather as an animated version.
“A step that I fully support,” says Martin. “Budget constraints would likely have made a live-action adaptation unaffordable.”After all, the series takes place on the high seas. For example, from Driftmark to Lys and the Basilisk islands of Volantis and Quarth, a new port is docked every week – in a gigantic world that can more easily be brought to life in animated form. “With animation we have a better chance of showing everything,” Martin finally admits.
At the center of the series, created by ‘Rome’ creator Bruno Heller, is Lord Corlys Velaryon (played by Steve Toussaint in ‘House Of The Dragon’), aka Sea Serpent, the most famous sailor in Westeros.
Netflix hit “Blue Eye Samurai” as a source of inspiration?
In the same breath, the legendary fantasy author can’t help but be excited when it comes to the Netflix animated series ‘Blue Eye Samurai’. He started the series with his wife Parris and ultimately had no choice but to binge through it in three evenings – because the streaming hit is something very special both visually and in terms of content: “Even if you don’t normally watch anything animated, give it a try. It is awesome. If you like my stuff, you’ll love it,” Martin said of “Blue Eye Samurai.”whose second season the mastermind of ‘Game Of Thrones’ can hardly wait.
In this case, we can only agree with Martin: for us, the animated historical martial arts adventure is one of the best series of the previous year. In our ultimate annual ranking for 2023, drawn up together with our colleagues from Moviepilot, “Blue Eye Samurai” ended up in a respectable fifth place:
