The rapist of the corpses took advantage of the omissions to commit the crime

An independent investigation in the United Kingdom found that in “systemic procedural failures” in a public hospital, they allowed an electrician, later convicted of murder, to sexually abuse the corpses of women and girls for 15 years.

David Fuller (65), who was sentenced to life in prison in 2021, raped the lifeless bodies of more than 100 women and girls in the morgue of the hospital where he worked for 15 years, without anyone suspecting his actions.

The police unmasked him when finding photos and videos documenting his abuse during the search of his house in the English county of East Sussex when he was under investigation for involvement in a double murder case.

During that raid, agents found 818,051 images and 504 videos of the abuse of the subject, who filmed himself committing acts of necrophilia in the morgue of the hospital where he worked.

According to local media, Fuller beat and strangled two women to the point of death. death: Wendy Knell, 25, and Caroline Pierce, 20, before they were both sexually assaulted in two separate attacks in 1987.

However, he has just been arrested December 3, 2020when a new analysis of DNA evidence made it possible to identify relatives in a national database and lead to Fuller.

When the photos and videos were found, the British government ordered an investigation to find out how Fuller could commit crimes for so long without arousing suspicion.

It found that “management failures, regulatory failures, failure to follow standard policies and procedures, along with a persistent lack of curiosity, contributed to the creation of an environment in which he was able to commit crimes, for 15 years, without ever being convicted.” suspected or caught.”

The investigation found that those responsible for running the center should “seriously and carefully think about their responsibility for the identified weaknesses and shortcomings”, as Jonathan Michael, the head of the investigation, indicated yesterday.

Missed opportunities to probe Fuller’s hiring practices, investigation revealssuch as routinely working more hours than specified in his contract or to perform tasks that are not necessary in the morgue.

Michael stated that Fuller “entered the morgue 444 times in one year and it went unnoticed and was not reviewed.”
