A university lecture hall collapsed in the city of Cagliari on the Italian Mediterranean island of Sardinia.
The accident happened around 10 p.m. Tuesday, according to firefighters. The troops searched the rubble of the Aula Magna for possible victims. However, according to the information, they did not initially assume that there were students or other people in the building at the time of the collapse.

Detective dogs and drones were also used, according to Ansa news agency. The two-storey building is said to have been locked around 8 p.m. after the lectures. (sda/dpa)
