For the first time, Sergei Surovikin (56), the new Russian commander of all troops in Ukraine, gives an interview. The TV channel Russia 24 broadcast it.
In it, the “General Armageddon” reveals parts of the Russian attack tactics: “We do not aim for a high attack rate, we crush the enemy methodically and come forward to save the lives of our soldiers and civilians.”
“Hundreds killed and injured every day”
According to him, the plan is working: “The enemy’s daily losses amount to hundreds of dead and wounded.” The drones in particular are extremely effective. “During the special operation, there were over 8,000 sorties. Attack drones destroyed more than 600 objects of Ukraine’s armed forces.”
He sees himself and the Ukrainians as “one people”. “We want Ukraine to become independent from the West and NATO. It should be a state that is Russia friendly. Our enemy is a criminal regime that is leading the citizens of Ukraine to their deaths.” In Russia, Surovikin is known for his war crimes against the Syrian people.
Attacks kill civilians
He also points to possible war crimes by the Ukrainians: “There are indications that Kiev is using prohibited methods of war in the Kherson region and is preparing a missile attack on the dam of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power plant.”
Since taking office, the Russian Commander-in-Chief has bombed Ukraine. Before Surovikin came to power, most of the fighting took place on the fronts. Now major Ukrainian cities are attacked again and the number of civilians is increasing.
