Countless fans of pop star Taylor Swift have been waiting for months in the Argentine capital Buenos Aires for the moment when the singer will perform in the South American country for the first time. “We’ve been camping here for five months,” said one of the ‘Swifties’, as the American singer’s fans are called.
The 33-year-old (“Shake It Off”) will perform for three days at the Estadio Monumental in the capital from November 9 as part of her world tour “The Eras Tour”. About 250,000 fans are expected at the three performances.
“We are a group of thirty people and since then we have been taking turns in our tent,” said the young woman. Besides her, there were a few other tents at the point where the line for next Thursday’s concert begins. With their campaign they hope to get one of the front seats in front of the podium. Because most campers have normal entrance tickets for the interior and it is on a first come, first served basis. Depending on the band or artist, this front section is also sold separately.
There were several ticket options at different prices for the Swift concert. A VIP package that allows you to enter the stadium first costs a maximum of 175,000 pesos – equivalent to approximately 450 francs at the official rate. Other fans therefore decided to queue from the early morning hours to try their luck for one of the front seats. Like a young man who came from Chile and, as he said, wanted to wait in line from seven in the morning.
The pop star recently set several records: at the end of October, Swift became the most streamed act in a single day in Spotify history. Additionally, her new album “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” became the most streamed album in a single day this year.
The 33-year-old has been on tour since March and, after the US and a long break, has now started her concerts abroad. (sda/dpa)
